Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition caused by accelerated skin cell growth, which leads to thick, scaly plaques. The plaques commonly occur on the elbows, knees, and scalp, but can occur on other body locations as well. Psoriasis can also affect nails and joints. While psoriasis cannot be cured, it is highly treatable, and early management can significantly improve comfort and appearance.
