Actinic Keratosis

Actinic keratoses (AKs) are rough, scaly patches that develop on sun-exposed skin over time. While not cancerous, they are considered precancerous, meaning they can progress to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) if left untreated. Early evaluation and treatment are important to protect your skin and prevent progression to skin cancer.

At Premier Dermatology & Aesthetics, we take a personalized approach to every patient. Dr. Adam Nabatian, a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, carefully examines each lesion to determine the most effective treatment. Depending on your skin and the number of AKs present, treatment options may include:

  • Cryotherapy to remove individual lesions

  • Prescription topical medications for larger areas

  • Fraxel Dual laser to target sun-damaged skin, improve texture, and to treat existing AKs and to prevent the development of new AKs.

If you have a history of actinic keratoses or are experiencing rough, scaly patches on sun exposed areas then consider scheduling an appointment with Dr. Nabatian for further evaluation.
