Genital warts, medically known as condyloma acuminatum, are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and appear as bumps or growths in the genital or groin area. These growths develop after being transmitted from someone who is already infected with HPV. These lesions can vary in size, shape, and number, and while HPV is common, condyloma acuminatum can cause discomfort or emotional distress.
