Perioral Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis is a red, scaly, and sometimes raised rash that most commonly appears around the mouth, but it can also affect the skin around the nose and eyes—where it is referred to as periorificial dermatitis.

There are many potential triggers, and in some cases, no clear cause is identified. A frequent contributing factor is prior use of topical or inhaled corticosteroids. Overuse of heavy facial creams and moisturizers is another common trigger. Diagnosis is made clinically, and Dr. Nabatian treats this condition with topical medications and, when necessary, oral therapy.

If you or your child may be experiencing symptoms of perioral dermatitis, consider scheduling an appointment with Dr. Nabatian for further evaluation and personalized treatment.
